1907 - The Palatine Photographic Company has a studio on Blackfriars Street and begins making films under their glass studio roof.
The Musee De Mirth Cinema opened on Market Street in the City Centre in 1908, as did the first designated cinema, the Theatre of Varieties, on Peter Street.
The Blakeley family opened a cinema, The Century Electric Picture Palace in 1909 at 22 Golbourne Street in Warrington and also began renting films from their home at 16 Union Street, Ardwick.

1908 - Actor Sidney Vivian born in Manchester on 18 April (d. Dec 1984).
1908 - Director and screenwriter Sidney Gilliat born in Stockport (d. 31 May 1994).
1909 - Actor Brenda deBanzie born 28 July in Manchester (d. 5 Mar 1981).
