MANCHESTER FILM HISTORY

1963 - 1969 THE SIXTIES SWING ...  

1963 - Lance Comfort directs and Tom Blakeley produces Blind Corner for the Mancunian Film Company.

1964 - Devils of Darkness - Mancunian's Tom Blakeley successfully turns his hand to horror!

1966 - Director and Film Critic Lindsay Anderson makes The White Bus in Manchester (released 1967). The screenplay was jointly adapted with Shelagh Delaney from a short story in her 1963 collection Sweetly Sings the Donkey. Terence Fisher directs and Tom Blakeley produces Island of Terror for Mancunian, Bryan Forbes films The Whisperers in Manchester.

1967 - Terence Fisher directs and Tom Blakeley produces Night of the Big Heat, his final film for Mancunian/Planet.

1968 - Hollywood comes to Manchester - Albert Finney and Liza Minelli star in Charlie Bubbles. Also in 1968 Herman and the Hermits star in Mrs Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter in and around Manchester.
